Notas de cata de Profesionales:
The Aro is a blend of 30% Graciano and 70% Tempranillo. (The Muga family prefer blending to the pursuance of mono-varietals.) The Graciano is very expressive on the nose, lending it effervescence and animation, delivering scents of Indian ink, cassis and orange sorbet. The palate is very well-balanced with supple, saturated and grippy tannins. There is patently very well judged acidity and wonderful sense of symmetry and focus towards the finish. Intriguingly, it closes up in the glass, the tannins becoming more abrasive as if to say: Don’t come back for several years, mate. Drink 2019-2035.
– 95 points, Neal Martin (Robert Parker's Wine Advocate)
(70% Tempranillo and 30% Graciano; aged for 19 months in new French oak): Bright purple. Sexy raspberry and blackberry aromas are complicated by hints of cracked pepper, vanilla and candied rose. Juicy dark berry and floral pastille flavors expand with air and pick up a smoky nuance, showing impressive depth and excellent focus. Spicecake and licorice notes emerge on the long, juicy finish, which is framed by gentle tannins. Impressively suave and already delicious but this will age.
– 94 points (Stephen Tanzer International Wine Cellar)
This red delivers bold flavors of blackberry, pomegranate, licorice, tobacco and toast, structured by full, well-integrated tannins and lively acidity. The texture is lacy, but there's plenty of power in reserve. Drink now through 2020. 100 cases made Drink 2019-2035.
– 94 points, Thomas Molesworth (Wine Spectator)
Sobre Bodegas Muga:
For Bodegas Muga, tradition is a way of life that is now so deeply rooted, that it has become almost law. Our tradition is based on wood, whether it be used to form, tubs, casks, beams or pillars. Muga has changed the rules of ageing, exceeding the minimum limits to produce RESERVAS that taste like GRANDES RESERVAS and GRANDES RESERVAS that taste like the GREATEST wines of the region and world. Nevertheless, although it may seem somewhat paradoxical, this working philosophy has not prevented us from making wines that are perfectly in tune with modern times.
At Muga, we make our own oak vats and casks, and carry out all our wine-making, ageing and storage activities using oak. Our casks are made from French and American oak and are replaced at least once every ten years.
