Very vibrant, with racy cherry fruit and a well-defined stone edge that ripples through the lengthy finish. This has the intensity of a Tavel, with more exuberant-style fruit. Drink now.
– James Molesworth (Wine Spectator)

An elegant, dry Rosé wine. This seductive wine is fresh and well balanced. It has a bright intense pink color. Both on the nose and palate it has a distinct Syrah character, with some spiciness and hints of strawberries and lively floral flavors, mainly Roses as well as orange peel. With good fruit concentration it shows richness in texture across the palate that leads to a delightfully long finish. This is a fresh, young fruity wine. We suggest drinking it within the first two years. This wine will benefit from decanting before serving.
– Aurelio Montes, winemaker at Montes Alpha

About Montes Alpha:
Montes had the mindset of creating better Chilean wines, an obsession. Montes, then, took the initiative by venturing into the plantations of the Apalta Valley and the mountain slopes. Montes constantly sought quality, and became a pioneer again in Syrah plantations in Colchagua. The results emerged faster than expected: the first ultra-premium (super Chilean or icon) wine, the Montes Alpha M 1996 (a Bordeaux classic), was followed by another that has become a cult wine, the Montes Folly 2000 (minimum production of 100% Syrah), and finally the first Chilean Carménère (over 75%) launched in May 2005 and Purple Angel (92% Carménère). Each and every one of them became an immediate success for the specialized press and for our loyal consumers. Montes' blessing has been the achievement of everything they set out to do.

In 2005, they became the fifth Chilean exporter of bottled wine, which they achieved on their own, without seeking joint ventures or foreign advice of any kind, as has been the case with other top-class wineries. We are proud to say that Montes has had great success, this has been the result of a group made up of 100% Chileans, and the result of our own effort.

Under the enlightened leadership of Aurelio Montes, the Montes vineyard remains one of the standard-bearers of Chilean wines. The Carmenere-based Purple Angel is one of the two or three best of its kind; the Folly is arguably Chile's best Syrah, and the Montes Alpha M one of the Cabernet-based icons.
