DETALLES COMPLETOS
Made with the following grape varieties: Tinto Fino (93%), Cabernet Sauvignon (4%) and Merlot (3%).
Intensity and structure received from our land but with the delicacy of care and affection. The identity of our territory is sensed from the prism of balance.
Pago de Carraovejas 2018 is the maximum expression of the valley; a wine full of nuances. From a perspective of balance and a fresh character, the wine is voluminous and, at the same time, agile. Full and vibrant. The floral nuances accompany the fruit in a production marked by its elegance, intensity and structure. It expresses the winery's vocation to get close to the terroir and represent its characteristics. Our desire to bottle each landscape. This is Carraovejas, our estate, our Pago.
The Balance of 2018
After an extreme 2017, 2018 was a favourable year in terms of weather. Since winter, precipitation in the form of snow and water restored the balance that the vineyard needed. The wet spring, together with snowfall and cold weather, lasted until the month.
April. This amount of accumulated water favoured the vigour of the plants, which was controlled naturally by using mulch. The work of the viticulture team and a hot summer helped to control the strength of the vineyard, favouring an optimal end to the cycle and, consequently, a great vintage. The harvest took place between 29 September and 12 October.
Own Character
Pago de Carraovejas 2018 is the most honest reflection of the valley that gives it its name. An environment in which the vines climb its slopes to form a unique landscape. On the surface of its tertiary geology soils, limestone marls, clays and sandstones emerge. These are lands that force the vines to make an effort to self-regulate and give their best. Plots that converge in an orography marked by its unique meso-climate. The vineyards are distributed from the middle areas to the moors that exceed 900 meters of altitude; from the gentle undulation that descends towards the stream, to the plots that exceed 30% of gradient. Slopes facing south and north, each with its own personality, draw the profile of the Carraovejas valley.
Elaboration by Plots
The first selection of bunches is made in the vineyard itself. Subsequently, a double selection is carried out in the winery: of bunches and of berries. The work by gravity allows to respect the raw material to the maximum. Fermentation by plots, the use of own yeasts and calm are the guidelines for the elaboration of Pago de Carraovejas. The wine was refined in French and American oak barrels for around 12 months. Patience, care and attention to every detail resulted in a wine that, after being clarified with natural egg white, was bottled in the spring of 2020.

View full details
