AƱejamiento: 18 months in French oak
"The Alta Cabernet Sauvignon was sourced and blended from three vineyards with distinct terroirs and aged for 18 months in new French oak. It offers greater aromatic complexity with elements of pain grille, scorched earth, espresso, black currant, and blackberry liqueur. Medium- bodied, it has the elegance of a classified growth St.-Julien, with intense, spicy, cassis, mint, and black fruit flavors, superb balance, and a 45-second, pure finish It will benefit from 6-8 years of. further cellaring and drinking well through 2030".

About the winery:

NicolƔs set out to develop his own selection of Argentine Malbec clones by planting 145 clones in the La PirƔmide vineyard. Of these, I selected the best five and began to plant them in different terroirs and altitudes. The results became more than clear in 2003 when his best Malbec came from the Altamira vineyard where the five clones had been planted in separate rows.

Over the past 20 years, NicolƔs and Laura Catena and their vineyard management team have worked tirelessly in the discovery, identification and development of key microclimates in the high altitude wine country of Mendoza, Argentina. NicolƔs Catena has planted an almost countless number of varietals and clones throughout his mountain vineyard sites. His research, especially of the Malbec grape, made him a true pioneer.
