The Reserva is 90% Tempranillo with 5% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano added to the blend. It was aged for 20 months in seasoned American and French oak. Cherry red in color, it offers a complex perfume of cedar, leather, violets, spice box, and blackberry. On the palate it is medium-bodied with plenty of ripe cassis-flavored fruit, silky tannin, good balance, and a pure finish. Give it 3-4 years and drink it through 2020.

– Jay Miller (Robert Parker, Wine Advocate)
"This plump red delivers black cherry, licorice, smoke and light herbal flavors, with light, firm tannins and fresh acidity. Balanced and refreshing. Drink now through 2010.

– Thomas Mattews (Wine Spectator)
About the Estate:

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao were founded by Ramón Bilbao Murga in 1924, an experienced wine trader who had been selling wine since 1896 from premises at Calle Las Cuevas in Haro. Ramón Bilbao was a forward-looking grape grower; a pioneer in the art of ageing.

The development of top-quality wines together with innovation while respecting the purest Riojan tradition represented by the history of the wines of Ramón Bilbao, are the trademark of this emblematic company in Rioja Alta. The philosophy that inspires the work carried out at the winery is the same philosophy that has prevailed, generation after generation, turning the men and women who work at our bodega into true experts in the art of ageing wines: grapes from different estates and vineyards, casks made of oak from European and American forests, and all of this enhanced by the care and know-how of our team. www.bodegasramonbilbao.es
