The Gran Reserva is the same blend as the Reserva. Dark ruby-colored, it delivers notes of cedar, earth, leather, and brettanomyces. This leads to a wine consisting of more structure than fruit but the flavors are enticing, aided by the effects of bottle age. Drink this old-style wine over the next several years while the fruit holds.

– Jay Miller (Robert Parker, Wine Advocate)
"Spicy tobacco and cola notes show through firm tannins in this lean red. Drink now.

– Thomas Mattews (Wine Spectator)
About the Estate:

Bodegas Ramón Bilbao were founded by Ramón Bilbao Murga in 1924, an experienced wine trader who had been selling wine since 1896 from premises at Calle Las Cuevas in Haro. Ramón Bilbao was a forward-looking grape grower; a pioneer in the art of ageing.

The development of top-quality wines together with innovation while respecting the purest Riojan tradition represented by the history of the wines of Ramón Bilbao, are the trademark of this emblematic company in Rioja Alta. The philosophy that inspires the work carried out at the winery is the same philosophy that has prevailed, generation after generation, turning the men and women who work at our bodega into true experts in the art of ageing wines: grapes from different estates and vineyards, casks made of oak from European and American forests, and all of this enhanced by the care and know-how of our team. www.bodegasramonbilbao.es
