"The Chianti Classico (95% Sangiovese, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon), is a weighty style of Chianti that offers attractive notes of ripe dark fruit, earthiness and tar, with more structure, delineation and finesse than the 2003. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016".

About the winery:

High-density vineyards, biodynamic farming and low yields are the hallmarks of the wines of Castello dei Rampolla, located in the prestigious Conca d’Oro in Panzano. Despite its elegant name Castello di Rampolla is a small, family-run property with a decidedly artisanal approach to working in both the vineyards and the cellar. The estate produces big, concentrated wines with imposing tannic structures that have proven to be extremely ageworthy.

The cellars of the Rampolla winery, near Panzano in central Tuscany, date back to the 13th century. Situated on 42 hectares of calcareous soil about 360 meters above sea level, these vineyards are ideal for Sangiovese, which here achieves particular vigour and potential for long-aging. The di Napoli family combines biodynamic methods in the vineyard with its modern, well-equipped cellars to produce world class wines with the famous consultant oenologist, Giacomo Tachis. The Chianti Classico bottling accounts for approximately 100,000 of the total 150,000 bottle production. The remainder is divided between the Riserva, the Sammarco and their white, Trebianco.
